Santa Maria Senior Organizer, FT

Description:

FLA is seeking an experienced Full-Time Senior Organizer in Santa Maria to train, develop and empower Latinx youth/parents to mobilize and create a positive change in Santa Maria. The Santa Maria Senior Organizer will work with youth/parents on improving social conditions for Latinx community members; especially, the Santa Maria Senior Organizer will co-lead campaigns to address education inequities, health equity, and/or immigration issues through youth/parent-led advocacy and media campaigns. The Santa Maria Senior Organizer is responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of organizing projects in the aforementioned areas. The Santa Maria Senior Organizer will support the ongoing leadership development of youth/parent leaders. The Santa Maria Senior Organizer will also work to engage community members, FLA youth, and parents, to respond to and improve social conditions.

Oxnard Youth Organizer, FT

Description:

FLA is seeking an experienced Full Time Youth Organizer in Oxnard to train, develop and empower Latinx/BIPOC youth to mobilize and create a positive change in Oxnard. The Youth Organizer will work with youth on improving social conditions for Latinx community members; specially, the youth organizer will co-lead campaigns to address education inequities, health equity, and immigration issues through youth-led advocacy and media campaigns. The Youth Organizer is responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of organizing projects in the aforementioned areas. The Youth Organizer will support the ongoing leadership development of youth leaders. The Youth Organizer will also work to engage community members, FLA youth and parents, to respond to and improve social conditions. Start date: October 19th, 2022 (or sooner depending on applicant’s availability).

The Youth Organizer will support the ongoing leadership development of youth leaders. Start date: October 24th, 2022 (or sooner depending on applicant’s availability).

Associate Program Director

Description:

FLA is currently seeking an experienced Associate Programs Director that will leverage their seasoned organizing, leadership development, and management skills to deepen the impact of existing programming and grow youth engagement in thoughtful and sustaining ways. With the heart of an organizer and a visionary brain, this role is responsible for supervising FLA’s organizers in Santa Barbara and Ventura County. This position will report to FLA’s Director of Annual Programs and work closely with FLA’s Ventura County-based Director of Organizing. The Associate Programs Director will play a hands-on role in directly supervising up to 4 organizers (and/or organizing supervisors), developing work plans, and campaign timelines, and ensuring the execution of these plans while providing their supervisees with the necessary training, guidance, and feedback. This Associate Programs Director will be ultimately responsible for their supervisees’ ability to build a base of youth and community members who will push forward local campaigns around social justice. This position is regional and can be based anywhere in Ventura or Santa Barbara County.

Executive Assistant 

Description:

FLA is seeking an Executive Assistant to the Executive Director. The Executive Assistant provides executive support in a one-on-one working relationship. The Executive Assistant serves as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies on all matters pertaining to the Office of the Executive Director. The Executive Assistant also provides administrative support at all Board, committee,
and staff meetings. The Executive Assistant also coordinates executive outreach and external relation efforts and executes special projects, including finance and record/data management. The Executive Assistant handles confidential information and communication of the organization to support the Executive Director.

Phone Bank Campaign Team Lead (College Student Position)

Description:

The Campaign Team Lead will lead a team of phone bankers in running a 6-week civic engagement program to engage voters on the issues of housing and tax equity and build a statewide membership base of progressive BIPOC youth. The person in this role should be strongly motivated, disciplined with time and material management, and highly skilled in mobilizing BIPOC youth to get involved and take action.

Phone Banker (Student Position)

Description:

The Phone Banker will engage voters through 6-week phone banking and canvassing efforts to create awareness around housing issues and tax equity and, in the process, recruit PowerCA Action’s members. The person in this role should be strongly self-motivated and highly skilled in conversing over the phone and in person to mobilize BIPOC youth to get involved and take action.
